It's been a great year for Carling in music and to help celebrate, five of the UK's best local bands have been invited to play a special one off gig as Carling Supports comes to London on Monday 3rd December.
At the start of the summer Carling asked up and coming bands in Bristol, Birmingham, Newcastle, Liverpool and Glasgow to perform at Carling Supports - a showcase for local talent. Bands were asked to upload two of their best tracks along with a biog and images. The four best bands in each region were then invited to play a Supports night at their local Carling Academy.
The best band in each region, as chosen by an independent panel of judges, secured a support slot at a future Carling Academy show. Now, for one night only Bar Academy, N1 will play host to the best five bands with a night of live music:

Pinstripe are based in South West, UK. The band are one of the hardest working young bands in the country, to date the four eighteen-year-old musicians have played more than 100 gigs since their debut show in April 2005. In February 2006 the band released their self-produced Critic Killer CD single which features their self penned songs, "Critic Killer", "The Only One" and "This Feeling Inside".

Page 44 have been going seriously for two years after rallying round and buying their lovingly named band van Betty! They play energetic pop-rock full of melodies and hooks that will have you remembering the songs after the first time you hear them! Since Betty has been part of the Page 44 family the guys have performed over 160 gigs including sell out performances at The mean Fiddler (London Astoria 2) and Birmingham Barfly not to mention countless smaller venues!

Stoneleaf are a three piece rock band from the North-East of England. They formed in 1998, have released two studio albums and are currently recording material for a third. Their music has been likened to Pearl Jam, Nirvana and various other bands by the national press and a recent Rock Midgets review referred to their music as ˜thinking mans anthems'. The band has toured and played for audiences from the Scottish highlands to Nice, France, in tiny bars to huge festival stages.

The Inventors are a six piece band who hail from the city of Liverpool. The band formed in May 2006 and has since gone from strength to strength gigging extensively around the U.K. The highlights of which include: The famous Manchester Ritz Club, the infamous Zanzibar in Liverpool and The Hope in Brighton. Influences include; Pink Floyd, Supertramp, The Beatles, Bloc Party, The Beta Band and The Bees amongst others.

In the past few years, the Scottish music scene has evolved into something of a mighty beast. Daunting, then, to be an utterly new addition to its eyes and ears. And challenging to meet its expectations with something that's truly original. So meet Yoshi. Conceptual, distinctive and successfully extracting their own sound from eclectic influences like disco, rock, hip hop, punk and indie.

Each band will play a 30-minute set at the gig which will also see the launch of the Carling Supports CD - a promotional album featuring two tracks from each of the bands. The gig will also be reviewed in a national music publication with the bands enjoying executive travel and hotel accommodation in London from Carling.
Carling Supports will return in 2008
Ice cold Carling and the best local music. The complete live experience.
