Stephen Aspin began his B team career after making a number of appearances for Hesketh Casuals second and third team. In his early days Aspin was a key member of the Southport Trinity junior team. Despite playing for a team in Rochdale, Aspin was clearly impressed by the B team set up and new chief scout, Barry Fellowes, coaxed the midfielder to sign on.
After an impressive debut away to Bury GSOB in the cup it was clear Aspins mild-mannered midfield play would be a fine asset to the Southport based contingent. Steve Aspin has many strong attributes, including strong tackling, accurate passing and calmness in front of goal, but more importantly his vocal direction on the pitch has assisted the side greatly.
During his short spell so far with the team, Aspin has scored three goals including one audacious lob from 30 yards against Thornleigh away.
