Skipper Chris Hames is an original member of the squad and has been ever present since that memorable day in September 2004. He began his very early amateur playing days at Southport Trinity before making the short trip over the Churchtown roundabout to represent Hesketh Casuals Colts (Cassies former junior team). It was here Chris established himself as a regular defender playing mainly right back where he captained the team. His specialism in those days were own goals, clocking up an average of three a season.
When the fateful axe of junior football fell on Chris he, like many of us, looked up to the senior Hesketh Casuals teams and looked to cement a place in one of their teams. Chris represented the first and second team on a number of occasions before the thrill of University football enticed the Sandgrounder to uproot and represent Grey College at Durham University. It was at Grey where Chris developed his game, fledging from an exclusive defender to crucial goal getter at the other end. To say he modelled his game on Dion Dublin would be an understatement.
After an incredibly successful three years at Grey, Chris found himself back in the North West, which was close enough to rediscover his roots for Lancashire Amateur football. He pledged his future to the newly assembled Hesketh Casuals B team and has never looked back since. The tall defender has led his troops into many a battle, scoring some crucial goals along the way, including six in his first season. Chris can proudly acclaim to being the longest serving Hesketh Casuals player in its squad.
