Bobby's to face Carluke Victoria AFC at Ibrox
12th May, 2008Carling Play on the Park - Ibrox Stadium 6.30pm kick off.
Buoyed by the news that they had won the Carling Play on The Park competition to play at Ibrox (thanks Carling!!) Bobby's Bar swept aside their opposition with style. Early in the first half Iain Brown rose to meet a corner with the looping header going over the Grant's goalkeeper's head. Soon after John Stanton found the net and then followed up with a second to make it 3-0. A miscalcualtion by the Grants goalie saw a Graham Walker free kick from nearly the half way line bounce in front of him and into the back of the net. Before the end of the half Ross Gillan racing through one on one made it 5 with a clever flick. Into the second half and Gillan doubled his tally nodding home a Strachan free kick. Stanton then completed a hat trick to make it 7-0. Bobby's then brought on some fresh legs both of whom scored soon after as both Liam Leonard and Cloudy McLeod found the net. Gillan then completed his hat trick before being subbed. Iain Brown was tripped in the box and left the

Bobby's bar came out on top in an ill tempered match against the Bowery AFC despite playing with 10 men for most of the game. Early on there were no opportunities created for either side with most of the play restricted to the midfield. The scoring was opened when Bowery were awarded a penalty. The ball was crossed in from the right and appeared to hit Graham Walker on the shoulder but the referee pointed to the spot. A few minutes later Eddie McNab was sent off after a midair collision and Bobby's were down to ten. Despite this they held on and just before half time Iain Brown prodded home the equaliser at the back post from a corner. In the second half Bobby's began well and started to stretch the Bowery back line. John Stanton got on the end of a ball through and one on one with the keeper slotted home to give Bobby's the lead. Then from a corner the ball broke to Davie Strachan who volleyed into the back of the net from 18 yards. The second half was marred with a flurry of

After their midweek defeat Bobby's recorded a 5-1 win away to The Claremont despite having several players still missing. In difficult conditions it was Bobby's who created the early chances. Good saves and a clearance off the line kept these out however. When the goal came though it was unstoppable. Liam Leonard struck a left foot curling effort that sailed into the top corner from 25 yards. After this Bobby's dominated the game. The second goal was a candidate for goal of the season as McNab controlled the ball on his chest at the half way line, chipped the ball over his marker and controlled it with his head before volleying to lob the goalkeeper from 10 yards inside the opposition half. The first half was rounded off when Ross turned inside the box after a corner and slammed the ball into the top right of the net. There were plenty of chances in the second half which Bobby's failed to convert until a corner from Bud found Iain Brown in the box who's crashing header glanced

10th April, 2008Bobby's Reach Final
Bobby's Bar went into the return leg of this semi-final tie defending a 3-0 lead and weren't content to leave it at that. John Stanton raced through the middle after 5 minutes and slotted past the Grants keeper. Grants started to put pressure on the Bobby's defence but didn't create any real chances. The game died a death in the second half as the Grants heads went down. The tie was finally decided when 2 rash tackles by the Grants captain Meechan led to 2 penalties. The first converted by Mick Duffy and the second by John Stanton after an initial save from the spot. Bobby's won 6-0 on aggregate and now go to the final at Ardeer on the 25th of May.
