Sacre Bleu Battle Back To Earn A Draw With Celtic

1st May, 2008

Late Arrivals Bolster Squad To A 5-5 Finish

If first games are an indication of seasons successes & failures, Sacre Bleu will face a roller coaster ride of emotions in 2008.

Last night's game against established side, Scarborough Celtic, saw the Bleus start with only 7 men. 2 players we loaned from Celtic but as soon as Sacre Bleu players arrived the players returned to the Celtic side and the Bleus were forced to play 9 V 11. In consideration of daylight hours halves were set at 25 minutes.

Early goals from midfielder Warren Lyon were soon negated as the Hoops took advantage of their numbers.

The arrival of Keeper/Manager Marvin Afriyie & Defender Adam Welch brought the 2 sides to 11 men.

Shortly after the restart, Forward Collin Thevanatkarunai and Lyon set in motion a series of events that ended with Coach/Forward Drew Kellas muscling his 1st goal of the season.

3 minutes later, Lyon potted his 3rd of the night to draw things level.

Midfield turmoil in the late stages allowed Celtic to steam ahead 5-4 but some last minute heroics by Lyon & Kellas allowed both players to get behind the last defender in the dying seconds of the match. Lyon then drew the keeper while Kellas tipped the goal line pass into the open net.
