20th August, 2008
Royal Oak claimed a narrow 1-0 win in a game that looked destined to be a 0-0 draw.
Neither goalkeeper was really troubled for the whole match. Michael Cooney and Liam Boland went close for the Oak, Cooney directly from a Free Kick and Boland from the half way line following a poor clearance by the Stewartby goalkeeper.
The only goal of this un-eventful game came about 5 minutes from time when a Boland corner was fumbled by the Stewartby Goalkeeper and Lorenzo Jordan stabbed home from close range.
Chris Birdsall had a squad of 15 to choose from, with everyone having a decent run out and trying to nail down a place in the starting line up ready for the season opener against AFC Kempston Town on 30th August 2008.
It looks like being another unpredictable season!
