6th August, 2008
A close fought game ended with defeat for the Oak.
The Oaks first chance fell to Lloyd Turner. Following a cross from Michael Cox, Turner had an easy tap-in, but blasted straight over the bar from 2 yards out.
After a goalless 1st half, Renhold made 11 changes and took the game to the visitors. Chris Birdsall only had 3 substitutes at his disposal and introduced both himself and Lee Embleton at half time.
Again, the Oak had a chance to take the lead following a clumsy challenge on Michael Cooney inside the box. A penalty was awarded and Michael Cox stood up to take it. Cox put the ball to the Keepers left, but the Keeper guessed correctly and saved the Penalty.
The game was becoming more open but still not many chances were created.
The Only goal of the game came following a pass back from Embleton. His pass was too short and the Renhold striker latched on to the end of it and tucked it under the on-rushing White.
Even though the result didnt go the way of the Oak, it was a good work out and an OK way to begin seriously for the new season.
