After having no players playing on the opening day of the tournament, Liam Boland was already staring defeat in the face. But after Day 2 he was back in contention thanks to a Lukas Podolski double.
A man of the match performance from Wesley Sneijder for followed and both Bolands began to pull away, with only Danny Murphy and Lloyd Turner standing a realistic chance of claiming top spot
Seany B looked like he had snatched the group stage by a point, until one of El Capitanos defenders pulled out through injury and the site automatically drafted in the Russian Defender Ignashevich from Bolands bench. Ignashevich went on to claim 4 points, which gave Liam the win by 3 points.
In the quarter finals, Paul Stevens forgot to change his team and Rebecca Birdsall claimed the most points for the round thanks to a sparkling performance by Schweinsteiger, beating Liam Boland into second place. Boland was still top though by quite a way after Andrei Arshavin (Wot a name!) scored bucketloads of points for him.
Onto the semi finals, Stevens again forgot to change his team and with Lloyd Turner on holiday and unable to change his team it was now El Capitano's to lose.
Danny Murphy claimed the round, but Boland had pulled away from the pack and going into the Final was assured of the win.
Going into the final both Seany B and DCI Dan were neck and neck for second place. Seany B pulled off the victory to complete a Boland one-two. Lloyd returned from his holidays and changed his team to win the final, but Liam Boland claimed the league title by 46 points.
