Royal Oak Kempston was formed in 1987 and 21 years later is still going strong.
We have won a number of League titles and Cup competitions over the years, but have not won any silverware for a long time.
The 2007/ 2008 season saw the beginning of a new era, with Chris Birdsall being put in charge and midfielder Liam Boland being handed the captains armband.
The average age of the squad dropped considerably for the 2008/ 2009 season with most of our squad being under 25. Over the summer we hope to keep all of the squad together allowing us to build a base for seasons to come. A few of the older faces still have enough in the tank to play for a few more seasons, assisting the youngsters and 'toughening them up'.
The goal for Mr Birdsalls first season was survival... which we achieved with a game to spare against all the odds. At the halfway point The Oak were bottom by 2 points but managed to turn it around at the start of 2008, even managing to put a run of 2 wins together.
Overall, Our first season was a success. Not in the league, but our team became good mates and now seem as much of a unit off the pitch as we are on it.
Our style of football is very attacking. Our defence is very solid, but the rest of the team struggle to defend! So the only way we win is to go all out attack.
Lorenzo Jordan was our top scorer for the 3rd season in a row, netting 20+ goals.
