Lymm B 2-0 Hesketh Casuals B
Cassies B were frustrated at leaving Lymm without a point, after working hard in difficult conditions. The hosts are likely to be near the top come the end of the season and at times gave the visitors a footballing lesson, but things could have been different had things gone Cassies way in the first half.
After losing MacGregor, Lloyd, Winstanley and Sykes Hesketh Casuals called upon Jay at centre half and reinforced the bench with Andy Lavery and Alan Bladon. In the first half Cassies had an early chance to break the deadlock when Matt Valentines long ball evaded the Lymm defence and Paul Hames struck a left footed volley which was superbly diverted onto the post by the Lymm goalkeeper.
Minutes later Cassies should have been one up when Andy Walker took on the Lymm defence and unselfishly squared the ball to Hames who tapped home from 6 yards. The goal was wrongly ruled out for offside much to the bemusement of both sets of players.
Lymm then scored twice in quick succession and Casuals injury list lengthened when Chris Hames was forced out with an ankle injury. This gave Andy Lavery the opportunity to come on and he impressed immediately and made sure he got in one of his trademark horror tackles.
The 2nd half was frustrating for Cassies with Bladon, Fellowes and Dave Walker all going close but in the end Lymm held on to the 3 points.
