Getting to know you...Matt Valentine

29th January, 2008

Chopper answers the 20 questions which will reveal all...

> 1. Who is the best Hesketh Casuals player you have
> played with? Matt that played up front last
year(cant remember his last name!) - class player, a natural finisher.
>
>
>
> 2. Who is the worst Hesketh Casuals player you have played with? I do
> seem to remember playing in that
game with "Jimmy the Turk" as i think he was labelled.
So i'll give baz a break and say him!!
> >
>
> 3. What was your best Casuals goal?
>
> they are pretty few and far between so im going to
say both of my free kicks. The "curler" from just inside their half away at bury in my first game and then the "rocket" from inside our half away at old mancs last season. (Just as i was thinking of placing that ball on my mantlepiece, Ian decided he thought it would look better on the M62)
>
>
> 4. Which was your most memorable Cassies game?
My first full game away at Bury - id not played 90 mins for 4 years and we only had 11 players so i knew i was in for a fun time. Me and matt were centre-halfs in both of ours first game and i think we both scored and i put 2 on a plate for baz.

>
>
> 5. What is your earliest footballing memory
> (playing)? Training on Home Farms pitch in Dublin
aged 7 with my brothers under 10s team. They gave me the nickname "chopper" for some reason!

>
> >
> 6. What is your earliest footballing memory (watching)? Sitting
> watching united at old trafford
and it was one-all against notts forest (i think) 5 mins to go and everyone else was leaving but Peter
Davenport scored 2 in the last 3 mins !! what a
player he was !!
>
>
>
> 7. Which Premier League side would you liken Cassies to and why? I
> hate to say it but Liverpool - decent
at home, not so good away. Always around the top places but never win the league.
>
>
>
> 8. Which three Cassies players would you most like
> to share a shower with? Lloydy - for the humour ,
Baz -so i know he's had at least one wash that week and it'd have to be Tomo now so he could talk me through his wonder strike - 40 yards i've heard !
I'd leave Greal in the changing rooms remembering that his "so called wonder goal" a few weeks ago was only making up for the 3 yard header he'd missed earlier in the game.
>
>
>
> 9. What would your last meal be on death row? A 75
course meal to try to delay it until they realised it was actually baz that had made the crimes against fashion!!
>
>
>
>
> 10. How many do you think you would score playing up front for a whole
> season? you'll find out next year if i'm manager !!
ha ha. Genuinely 15 maybe 20.
>
>
>
>
> 11. Which is your favourite away ground and why?
Old Mancs - nice flat pitches to play decent football on.
>
>
>
>
> 12. Which song would you have playing when there are highlights of
> your Cassies career playing? id have
to go with The Beatles - The Long and Winding Road.
>
>
>
> 13. What is your funniest memory of Hesketh Casuals?
Apart from Baz first telling me he was playing football now instead of Girly hockey - it'd have to be seeing Lloydly playing with no shorts on - or was that just a dream ?!
>
>
>
> 14. After a game, bath or shower? shower - if they
look clean enough - if not a bath at home.
>
>
>
>
> 15. During a match, boxers or Yfront? Y fronts.
>
>
>
>
> 16. Favourite curry dish after a night out? Chicken
Tikka from Michaels in Thornton - lovely and creamy, try it !!
>
>
> 17. Who do you think is/was the most skillful Casuals player? I'd go
> with Justin - great close
control.
>
>
>
> 18. Do you agree with capital punishment? yeah - if
its undeniable evidence.
>
>
>
> 19. If Hesketh Casuals played Man Utd at Old Trafford, what do you
> honestly think the score would
be? Well Tomo would keep Ronaldo in his pocket, I'd handle Rooney so it'd just be the rest of the team to watch out for - maybe 15-1 !! (id score one from a free kick in our half again !!)
>
>
>
> 20. If you didn't play for Cassies, what would you be doing? either
> more DIY or getting dragged into
doing housework !!! Maybe the odd game of golf as well.
