Bury GSOB âAâ 2-1 Hesketh Casuals âBâ
A last minute deflected strike ended Cassiesâ six match unbeaten run after an under-par performance from the away side. Had the league leaders spent less time bickering and more time getting behind each other they may have emerged with a victory. Despite the first half discontent between the players they went into the break deadlocked at 0-0 with all to play for. Bury had created some chances and Matt Valentine went close after his left footed shot was cleared off the line.
In the second half Bury applied the most pressure and went ahead with a penalty, the fourth conceded by Cassies this season.
Casuals pressed for an equaliser and Valentine again went close, as did Barry Fellowes. They drew level when Valentineâs corner was headed back into the danger area by Lloyd and Steve Aspin directed a neat header into the corner.
As the away side pushed for the winner Bury missed a few chances to win it and Dave Tomlinson excellently cleared off the line. Casuals almost nicked it when Steve Aspinâs shot was superbly saved by the Bury keeper before they nicked the 3 points with a fortunate strike.
Man of the match: Dave Tomlinson
