Old Mancunians 'A'Â 3-5Â Hesketh Casuals 'B'
Hesketh Casuals B edged this entertaining encounter after the home side produced a great comeback. The opening goal of the game came from Paul Mullen, who was starting his first of the season, when Parr sent him clear. The striker out-muscled the defender and slotted the ball in off the post to make it 1-0. Old Mancs equalised soon after after a defensive error allowed their striker to race clear and slide the ball passed the keeper.
Minutes later Cassies regained their lead when Parr again sent a defence-splitting pass through to his cousin Andy Walker who delicately flicked a first time right footed shot passed the advancing keeper. Casuals extended their lead when Parr clocked up his third assist with an inch perfect pass over the keepers head which landed neatly on Andy Walker's lap. The winger registered his second goal of the game and put Cassies in a strong position at half time.
Meanwhile, the returning Dan Richards and Mike Lloyd battled hard in the centre of midfield and full backs Forshaw and Grice showed confidence at the back. It was Richards' free kick which picked out Lloyd and the fox in the box continued his impressive scoring run with a nice header.
After a dubious penalty was awarded to Old Mancs which was converted and their striker grabbed another, it was evident there was a game on. At 4-3, Old Mancs looked likely to nick a point until Baz Fellowes reached the bye-line and pulled the ball across to Derek Sykes who slid the ball home for his first of the season.
Cassies have now won their third consecutive game and hope to continue their acsent up the table next week at home to Broughton.
