Hesketh Casuals âBâ 4-6 Racliffe Town âAâ
Hesketh Casualsâ 100% home record was snatched away from them after an entertaining defeat at the hands of a virtually unrecognisable Radcliffe Town. With only three fixtures played in the whole of the Lancashire Amateur league it is probably safe to say that many of the visiting players will not feature again in the Radcliffe fourth team this season. Having said that Casualsâ contributed significantly to their own downfall and can blame at least four of the goals on errors and lack of marking.
From the kick of was clear that this was not the Radcliffe that were second bottom as they strolled into a two goal lead. Justin Parrâs free kick reduced the deficit with 5 minutes to go before half time, but minutes after the goal Radcliffe restored their two goal advantage in fortunate circumstances which served as a sucker-punch to the home side.
The second half saw Cassies claw another back when Derek Sykes side footed home to make the score 3-2, but the Radcliffe again scored to regain the upper hand. Andy Walker dragged himself from his sick bed to score with a great header and give Cassies hope of getting back into the game, but Radcliffe continued the scoring pattern for the game by getting another. Walker scored his second with a thumping drive to make it 5-4 but a mix-up in defence allowed Radcliffe to put the game to bed in the final moments.
Man of the match: errrâ¦â¦â¦Andy Walkerâs 20 minute-two-goal cameo was one of the few positives.
