WHat started out as a promising season for the mighty Epsom Downs, turned into a dogfight at the wrong end of the table.
Epsom are relying on Merton Rangers to beat local rivals Kingston Town in this weekends fixtures, to give Epsom the lifeline they need to stay in Division 2.
Epsom enjoyed good cup runs this year, reaching the Semi final of the MDSFL Gordon Proctor Senior Cup, the leagues highest cup honour, beaten only by eventual winners Dee's 3-1.
Epsoms league form seemed wanting for a majority of the season. Too many drawers halted Epsoms progress up the table, a failure to take chances at the business end didn't help.
Next season there is to be a major structural re shuffle within the club and especially the squad. The Downs have a reserves squad to cater for as well as the empire looks to expand.
Epsom will be pushing for nothing but improvement as they look to make a name for themselves in the 08/09 season, pushing for honours and trying to establish themselves as one of Surrey's premier Sunday clubs.
