Only just realised that i haven't updated this from last week - won't say much, poor play all over the pitch cost us a needy three points, and the league title is no longer in our hands...JD's will have to drop majority of points from their remaining five games for us to win the league... More »

A typical well fought game by the Halfway kept them at the top of the league after coming from behind again this season. Two late goals from Andy Samuels gave them their fourth win on the bounce and as we head into the second half of our league season, we are currently 7 points ahead of our nearest rivals.

Halfway knew they had to win today to have any chance of promotion after a recent run of poor results.
A fairly new look team was drawn together, with early season form pair of Ben and Dan re-united in midfield. We started slow, as always, and this is one of the things we need to address next season, however we soon found ourselves infront after Shep's shot lobbed the goalie. St John's were soon level after BJ brought down St John's quick winger. However, due to form Nozza found himself with an inch of space, turned and shot past the opposition goalkeeper.
Half-Time 2-1
Second half was going to be tight, though within 2 minutes Halfway found themselves infront, Dan Coulborns first of the season made it 3-1. Little Morris has ran his legs off for the past few months, with nothing to show for his effort, however today was his day as he bagged a fourth for the Halfway with a great finish. St Johns won another penalty after a poor foul by a defender, and their midfielder grabbed his second of the game. But the game finished as it started, with another Halfway goal, and Morris getting himself a brace.
Full Time 5-2.
After the game we found out that we had actually been promoted, and congratulations must go to all who played any minutes of any game. From Paterson's beaut in the first game, to the 11 men away to three tuns and Beacon, to the comebacks against Middleton, Royal Oak and many more...and to the consistancy shown throughout all the lads...WELL DONE. GOING UP GOING UP HAAAALFWAYS GOING UP NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA !
