Today was the biggest game Longbridge FC were going to play to date! Everybody arrived up for the game prior to kick off there was a pitch inspection by the referee all of us sat in the changing rooms just hoping the game was on we couldn’t wait no longer for this event this was the ticket to the final an we wanted it! When the referee told us the good news a row went up the game was on it was time to go take the place in the final.

The first half started off fast just a couple of minutes in Joynesy had a great chance to take the lead an nice ball through the channel from Oli seen Joynesy with a chance to put the bridge 1-0 up what a start it would have been but the keeper was equal to it an saved the shot. Just moments later we did take the lead when Kane picked the ball up on the right hand side running with the ball he skinned the left back and drilled the ball at the near post an in such wet an slippery conditions the ball slid right underneath the keeper and the net rippled 1-0 to the bridge! What a start but it got better everybody was pumped for this game and wasn’t it showing a succession of shots an fumbles by the goal keeper in a crowded goal mouth scramble the ball fell to Tom Carr with the goal keeper on his arse the goal was gaping and he did what was required he smashed the ball into the empty net 2-0 to the bridge so early in the game, we couldn’t of asked for a better start. And it didn’t stop there the bridge were pressing they wanted more goals there was attack after a attack somehow the ball was being cleared by any means. After 20 minutes of relentless pressure the game calmed down and Hellenic were coming back into but still we were comfortable until a corner was floated into the box and after failing to clear the ball the bridge were punished Hellenic scored a replica goal of the bridges second and that is how the first half ended.

The bridge has this game by the scruff of the neck we had just given Hellenic a way back into the game. A third goal for the bridge would of sealed it. The bridge started the second half as they did the first pressing an pressing the chances were coming we just needed to take one. Kane with a hand full of chances but non had hit the net everybody watching the game was tense heart rates were raised Steve’o was muddy after being bowled over like a skittle. With 20 odd minutes remaining the bridge had a corner Joe wiped a great ball in and who was underneath it Kane proving white men can jump he made contact with ball only to see it hit the top of the crossbar and go out for a goal kick. Minutes later Kane was sprinting towards goal with the ball at his feet instead of shooting he laid the ball into Joynesy 18 yards out he scuffed the shot an the ball trickled to the keeper that was a great opportunity nobody could believe the ball wasn’t in the back of the net. If you could pick any player to be in that position it would be Joynesy you would sure he would score but it was beginning to luck like the ball just wasn’t going in the goal for the killer third goal but the clock was ticking away only ten minutes left when Kane picked the ball up 30 yards from goal running with it towards goal he was bouncing of challenges he went through the first then the second he found himself on the edge of the penalty area he stumbled past a third challenge an was one on one with the keeper he keep his head an stroked the ball calmly past him an into the bottom corner 3-1 surely the bridge were in the final. Not long left they were half way there now one foot in the final it was just a matter of waiting for the final whistle. Hellenic were pushing on but the bridge were solid at the back 3-1 is how it ended.

FINAL HERE WE COME. The biggest achievement Longbridge FC have ever seen. The league and cup double looks on 9th win in a row I can’t see the bridge losing another game this season.
