This top of the table clash was played in blustery conditions with trawden having the advantage of the wind in the first half,the game got off to a lively start with both teams creating openings but it was the pace of the earby forward which created the first goal when he burst forward and slid the ball past crossy. celtic didn't let their heads drop and kept pushing for an equaliser with dom and diggle having half chances, it was from a corner though that trawden got the leveller an inswinger from rossy beat the earby keeper and defence, game on, 1-1. just before the break earby were reduced to ten men after a blatant elbow on watty, leaving the referee no choice, could celtic make the extra man count against the wind. playing some flowing footy celtic started to create openings but earbys offside trap was working well, dom broke down the right and crossed for dicko who after a good run managed to screw the ball wide. celtics defence couldn't let their concentration lapse as earby were getting the odd chance but shooting wide of the mark, jp was working well with dicko in the centre of midfield and with ben and rossy out wide we were always going to create chances. a through ball was latched onto by diggler who shrugged off the defender and placed the ball under the goalie and into the back of the net sending the players and crowd into wild celebrations! crossy had a blow to the head and was concussed for a few minutes(might knock some sense into him)but came to after some water treatment, crabby was on for digs and after another few chances from either team trawdens defence of cal, nuts, tank and watty held firm to ensure celtic took the three points. not a brilliant display but a battling one lets keep it up in our quest for promotion. m.o.m was cal
