with 5 17 year olds in the starting line up & maggots on the bench the average age of the team at k.o. was 18, the question being asked by everyone was are they up for the task ahead, after the final whistle they had answered this question emphatically. after winning the toss and electing to play down the slope with the sun in their eyes, celtic soon began to control the game, with jp making his first start alongside dicko in centre midfield & ben & rossy working the flanks, openings soon began to appear in the embsay defence & after a couple of half chances, the first goal soon came. a cross from the left by dicko was met by dom who's glancing header found the back of the net. the only thing to trouble celtics defence in the 1st half was crossy's alice band which he wore instead of a cap.the sun was to play its part in the 2nd half, rossy made it 2-0 when he slotted the ball past the keeper & with the crowd telling dom to take a touch he silenced them with a stunning volley into the top corner 3-0. rossy grabbed a well taken 2nd & now trawden had the upper hand & were willing to shoot from anywhere & it paid off when dicko hit a thunderbolt from 30 yards past a blinded keeper 5-0. after good work work down the left by rossy he squared the ball across the line for a simple tap in, the crowd & players were celebrating another goal but it was crabby on the end of it & he managed to somehow put it over the bar, any defender would have been proud of such a clearance! watty & nuts had speculative shots which threatened the corner flags (stick to defending), cal & tank looked solid at the back (who said tom always looks solid!) & it wasn't long before dom got a well deserved hat-trick, a slip in defence let embsay in for a consolation goal but it was a great allround display by everyone, another 3 pts, still unbeaten in the league, lets hope it continues. m.o.m. was jp.
