CHATBURN 1 T.C.F.C. 2

13th October, 2007

A HARD FOUGHT WIN!

this was naver going to be an easy game on an undulating pitch, celtic were on the back foot from the off and could have fallen behind straight away when keeper crossy slipped and the chatburn striker had the goal at his mercy but a goaline clearance by maggots saved croossy's blushes. chatburn kept pressing but the celtic defence held firm with keeper crossy returning maggots earlier favour when he misjudged a ball and the chatburn striker latched on to the loose ball only for the keeper to make a fine save. rossy and dicko were doing a lot of work in midfield but nothing seemed to be happening anywhere and the only celtic shot of any significance in the first half came from diggle, who playing in an unfamiliar role up front, turned and shot only for it to hit the upright. celtic started the second half a bit more stronger, joe came on for kev who had received a knock to the head, playing a bit more football celtic got into the game only to go behind when after a great save by crossy they failed to clear and the ball was put int the bottom corner by a chatburn player. it was now time for celtic to roll up there sleeves and dig deep, crabby and diggle were holding up the ball well and celtic were starting to make the chatburn keeper work and from a free kick came the equaliser, it was a cross come shot by dicko which sailed over the keeper into the top corner. at this point celtic would have settled for a share of the points, cal dropped back having helped go in search of a goal and the back line of nuts mags and watty were shutting up shop then the ball fell to ben, who by his standard was having a quiet game, he took the ball on and from the edge of the area unleashed a left foot shot into the bottom right hand corner. celtic held on to get the three points, it was a hard fought victory but everyone kept going and nobody let there heads drop the only dissappointment was for dave whit who stripped and ready was itching to get onto the field of play, maybe next week dave! m.o.m. was stuart cross.
