9th March, 2008

Having been whipped into shape during the weeks training session by the iron fist of French, Digica took to the pitch with fear in their hearts and a fire in their bellies - who would dare stand in the way of these wounded soldiers? None other than AC NEC, unknown opposition who've had some good results and some not so good results this term. Digica did not know what to expect.
Due to extended breaks to the health farm for some, continued spacial awareness issues for others, a bad colonic irrigation for one individual and some unfortunate injuries, several players were unavailable and the squad looked rather bare with no fit substitutes at the time of kick off. Gaffer French even gave himself a rare start with the sidelined Burden close to leaking one out in his big boy shorts. Even still, the team looked strong, a testament to the shrewd signings French made during the summer months - bringing in the likes of Savage and Godber, who both started this weekend.
Digica began the game well, composed, slick and smooth. NEC rarely troubling the back four and the attacking force of the blues wreaking havoc here there and everywhere. The midfield war was over before it begun, Jones and McKay pulling strings, dominating tackles even commanding the skies - an aspect not typical to a digiperformance.
The deadlock was broken when the recently cured Booth escaped down the flank and miss hit a shot that drifted well wide of the goal, fortunately for the crazed winger, his opposite number Godber rose like a hard on and showed him how to finish.
Digimen marched on and soon were 2 up, almost a carbon copy of the first, Booth tried another shot and this time his accuracy was even worse, Godber again saving Danger's blushes.
The frustrations of toys-out-the-pram-booth were beginning to show, spectators fearing another outburst and 3 week ban was inevitable. Booth must have been listening to his Pan Pipe therapy tapes however as he conquered his inner daemons and attacked once more down the right, this time with the ball at his feet he looked up, spotted Godber at the back post again and crossed the ball to the red hot boy from hogwarts. How ironic that this time, his miss hit should end up in the back of the net, a great finish - if he'd have meant it.
Half time and Digimen 3-0 up and cruising. The second half becoming a formality and a crisply taken goal from the goal machine Tivey killed off any hopes of a come back. French and Savage drifted forward in search of a goal that would give them vain hope of catching the prolific Burden in the Centre Back Challenge (TM), so many chances fell their way - the score line would have been very different had the Salmon been on the end of some of those corners
