27th January, 2008

Digica arrived at Titchfield raring to go after a 7 week break. It was Stevey Bould outside and as the mighty blues took the pitch and off came their Desomd Hacketts you could see they were all feeling a bit uncle Billy. The punters were out looking for a nice Bunsen burner, however, the pitch was a mud fest without a blade of Renie Marsh in sight and if anyone thought for a second that this was gonna be ham and cheesy they were very mistaken. Digica started the game like they had been on a Gary Player and a Jet Fighter and were quickly on the back foot. Digica were playing far from their hairy chest and suffered an early scare as Empire rammed the ball into the back of the net, thankfully with a bit of friar tuck, the ref called for a foul just as the ball was crossing the line. The mighty blues were playing like a bunch of iron hoofs and were soon under the cosh again as Empire strove forward again. The howling gale was not helping matters and Empire were consistent in their long ball tactic. A little Jack Horner saw the next close shave as Danger smashed the ball into the on running forwards Chevy Chase only to see keeper Bowler fly across the sausage roll and get an ivory band to the Albert Hall just before it crept in. The next attack and Big Ben-like Burden looked comfortable as he shielded the ball away form the oncoming striker. Seconds latter Burden was tripping over his own scotch eggs and falling on his Myleene Klass and Empires striker was one on one. From out of nowhere Wadlow appeared like a Grand National winning bottle of sauce and with a last ditch slide deflected the Albert Hall wide. After another 10 minutes and a few close calls as defenders tried to use their ivory bands and chalk farms to control the ball, Digica left the field for half time having had a Barry Crocker. A quick word form the pitch and toss and some inspirational Aneka Rice from coach Rushby, letting the team know who was top of the league (Premium), Digica recharged their Tony Slatterys and headed out for the second half. Minutes later and Digica were ahead. The young Rob Roy Jacko found himself on his Jack Jones and hurtled towards the darky cox before unleashing a ripper into the sausage roll. 1-0 Digica.
Digica's inability to get their loafs of bread to the ball meant that they underwent some Empire pressure straight after. The boys looked cream crackered after such a long lay off but with Ali unable to close his gang and mob Digica at least had someone to kick their ass. However, Empire seemed unable to Jude Law and Tom Hanks to the safety of Bowlers turtle doves Digica managed to keep the lead. The four boys at the hammer and tack were looking stronger as the game continued and Savage making a run form the back spotted the General and laid off a beauty for him to smash through the legs of the oncoming keeper. Goal, and Digica couldn't Christmas eve their mince pies, 2-0 up and playing like Jimmy White. Digica were now coasting through and as the ref blew the final whistle the blues were in shock over how they had managed to win. Oh well, it's the form of Champions and Digica are still sitting pretty in second place but with Forum 90 up next week Digica need to find their form if they want to keep up the pace.
