On a glorious Sunday morning at the Badger Dome, We faced a rather keen looking RE United side in the first round of the cup.

The game started poorly for a BT's point of view, the bad habbit of conceeding sloppy early goals that we some how picked up in pre season, still there for all to see. At times the defence looking like startled rabbits caught in the headlights of of our pacey opponents, not mentioning any names (Dave Goz and Alan Goody) HA HA. Before we knew it we were 3:0 down!

Rather than crumble like the BT of old the 3 goal deficit appeared to galvanise us as a team. The Midfield and defence working hard to support the front 2.

Chances started to come BTs way, a shocking attempt at an overhead kick by Rossi "shinner" Cracknell some how turned into a great pass to Big Show, he danced around the ball for a few seconds before putting his shot wide.

Greg then hit the bar after good work by Man of the Match V-man and Guy down the right-hand side.

Half time game with the score still at 3-0.

BT started the second half as brightly as they'd finished the 1st.
Guys height and Stiffys heading ability meant we were a constant threat from set-pieces.

We finally got our goal mid-way through the 2nd half the ball falling Rossi who made no mistake from 2 yards.

The belief was there for all 3 of the supporters to see as we pushed for a second.

Dave Streatfield, making his competitive debut in the famous gold and blue had a stone wall penalty waved away. His appeal earning him a yellow card for desent.

Leeroy & Rossi later joined him in the book for similar offences.

A second BT goal eventually came with 5 minutes to go.. Greg finishing well after a poor clearence.

The come back was on... until Backhouse hauled down the opositions striker inside the box.

Paul, who had made some good saves earlier in the game was given no chance from the spot.

Final Score 4-2.

Not the result we wanted but if we can play like we did in the 2nd half all season we'll be knocking on the door on RM3.
