Women dominate the nominations for this year’s Brit Awards, with Lily Allen, Florence and the Machine, Lady Gaga and Pixie Lott all picking up three nods.

Allen is up for the British Solo Artist, British Album and British Single awards, while Florence is in the British Solo Artist, British Album and British Breakthrough Act categories.

Lott has won nominations in the British Female Solo Artist, British Breakthrough Act and British Single categories, while Lady Gaga dominates the international section.

Doves, Friendly Fires, JLS, Kasabian and Muse comprise the British Group category, meaning there’s no place for Arctic Monkeys.

The Brits celebrate their 30th anniversary this year, and Florence and the Machine and Kasabian are among the performers.

Enemy frontman Tom Clarke has said the band will take time away from recording and touring.

Clarke is looking for some rest having been in overdrive since the release of debut album ‘We’ll Live and Die in These Towns’ in 2007.

He told Radio 1: “We’re just taking it easy, taking our time. I’ve bought this ridiculous farm and I’m trying to decorate it so I can move in.”

The band are writing new material though, with Clarke adding: “We’ve not got a tour for a few months and you go, ‘Oh, I’ll put my feet up’. But instead of that you get home and you write more songs than you’ve ever written in your life.”

Finally, Hot Chip have hinted that they will play at Glastonbury this year.

Alexis Taylor of the band said: “You’ll potentially see us in the Somerset area of the UK around the end of June I’d imagine.

“I have been to that part of the world and enjoyed being there. Nice cider there, good music and good atmosphere.”

This year’s event will mark the festival’s 40th anniversary and take place between 23-27th June.
