A number of the world’s biggest musicians are to partake in different charity events to raise money for earthquake and tsunami struck nation, Japan.
US based stars are to record a charity album while a group of UK rock acts are to play a benefit gig in aid of the devastated Japanese victims.
U2, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Bon Jovi and Nicki Minaj are all set to contribute towards a digital disc, with record label Universal Music hoping to make the album available globally by the end of the week.
While no further details regarding tracklistings have been released, Lady Gaga may also feature on the album as she is signed up to Universal’s label.
Funds raised from the album sales will go directly to the Japanese Red Cross.
Meanwhile, Primal Scream, The Coral and Beady Eye are among the bands that will play a benefit show at O2 Academy Brixton on 3rd April.
Paul Weller, ex-Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft and Blur’s Graham Coxon are also set to appear at the show where proceeds go to the British Red Cross Japan Tsunami Appeal.
Tickets for the benefit gig go on sale on Friday 25th March at 9am with tickets limited to a maximum of four per applicant.
Japan was hit by a disastrous earthquake and a resulting tsunami on 11th March leading to massive destruction in the north-east of Japan.
