Elbow are looking to release their new album later this year, according to drummer Richard Jupp.

Recording sessions for the fellow-up to ‘The Seldom Seen Kid’ are well underway and Jupp says the band are loving every minute.

“We’re rabid for it,” he says. “The last one was astronomical for us. Using that springboard…I’d love to get the album finished and get it out on the road [before 2010 ends].

Of the album’s sound, Jupp added in the interview with the NME: “It’s at an experimental stage. We’re loving being back in the studio, it’s really exciting. We’re just ploughing through it now.”

Dizzee Rascal has told Radio 1 that he wants to play this year’s Glastonbury festival.

Glasto 2010 will be the famous festival’s 40th anniversary and Dizzee said he’d “love to” be part of celebrations.

Event organiser Emily Eavis has reciprocated the rapper’s sentiments, telling BBC 6Music: “We’ve got to have Dizzee, that’s a given”.

U2 have already been confirmed as headliners.

Finally, Vampire Weekend will play a free show at the Somerset House ice rink in London, the band have confirmed.

The gig will take place at 5.30 on the afternoon of Thursday 14th January.

Tickets are not available in advance but will be given out on a first-come first-served basis at the venue.
