Carl Barat has revealed that the Libertines could reform next year.
Though the band split in 2004, Barat and Pete Doherty have teamed up for a couple of one-off shows and look likely to do the same in 2011.
Talking to the London Evening Standard, Barat said: “It’s not definite definite. I can say 2011, but it’s hard to plan The Libertines until next Tuesday.
“But 2011 is where there’s room for that to happen. So if everything’s all right, then, yeah, it would be glorious to get on the old jacket and venture forth, into the known.
“If it works, and there’s a window for that…no, a window makes it sound like a business meeting. If there’s a doorway, then certainly we’ll go through it.”
The band was formed in 1997 but released just two albums before calling it a day in 2004.
Massive Attack have told the NME details of their recording sessions with Damon Albarn for new album ‘Helgioland’.
The Blur frontman worked on two song for the follow-up to ‘100th Window’, playing keyboard on ‘Splitting The Atom’ and contributing vocals to ‘Saturday Come Slow’.
Robert ‘3D’ Del Naja of the band said: “He [Albarn] was like, ‘I want to work with you, but I’m not getting sucked into some nine-year-long Bristol dope-haze’.
“[Albarn] said] ‘We’ll work 10 to six, at my studio, for five days and that’ll be it’. The irony was that it was him who ended up instigating all the bad behaviour!”
Finally, Gossip have been added to this year’s Wireless Festival line-up.
The US band, led by Beth Ditto, will play on the Friday (2nd July) along with headliners Pink and The Ting Tings.
Individual day tickets will cost £47.50 and organisers have said more acts will be announced soon.
