The inspirationally names Fyfe Dangerfield had been a pivotal figure in the music scene of his native Birmingham back in the late 90's before he headed to the bright lights of London where he found kindred musical spirits MC Lord Magrao (guitar), Aristazabal Hawkes (double bass) and Greig Stewart (drums) to form Guillemots. Names after a group of seabirds, Guillemots set about conquering the world with their unique brand of soaring orchestrations, percussion-laden, piano-tinged and often bizarre brand of music releasing several singles and EP's to critical acclaim before 'Made-Up Lovesong #43' captured the nation's hearts and took over the radio airwaves during the summer of 2006. Two more singles, 'Trains to Brazil' and 'Annie, Let's Not Wait' and a Mercury Music Award nomination (they just missed out to Arctic Monkeys) certified their status as one of the best new bands in the UK while their stunning live shows left people begging for more. Now with new album 'Red' stomping into the Top Ten last month and insatiably catchy single 'Get Over It' blasting out of every available speaker in the country, Guillemots are preparing to soar higher than ever before. Check out the band this summer at Wireless Festival, Hop Farm Festival and also supporting REM on their stadium dates in the UK.
