Carling Academy Bristol celebrated it's fifth birthday with a full twelve hours of music and entertainment on Friday 17th November - and what a party it was! With very special guest Radio 1's award-winning DJ Zane Lowe tearing up the decks at Ramshackle with an absolutely storming set peaking with hundreds of red balloons covering the rammed dancefloor while The Automatic's now legendary 'Monster' pounded out the PA. Thanks to everyone who attended the shows and all the organizers who helped put on such a special event! Roll on the 10th birthday party!
Earlier in the evening Carling Live Hour saw five local bands battle it out for a winning spot on the bill at a future Carling Academy 2 show. Congratulations goes to Bath singer-songwriter Joe Janiak who won the contest with an incredible three song acoustic set which impressed the judges and the crowd equally. Big thanks also goes to the other four bands for taking part: Century Man, BlackChalk, Eleven Eleven and Return To Field and all the other bands who submitted demos to us.
