Wigan Athletic completed the signing of Julius Aghahowa in January 2007 after the Nigeria striker was granted a work permit.

The 24-year-old Shaktar Donetsk hitman moved to the JJB Stadium in a deal worth approximately £4million.

Aghahowa had netted 14 goals in 32 games for Nigeria and played in the Champions League for Shaktar Donetsk.

He continued this fine form in his first half-season with Wigan as he played 12 games.

He will hope to break into the first team on a regular basis in 07/08.
