Roman Bednar

Czech striker Roman Bednar burst onto the scene in 1999 when he signed for homeland team Mlada Boleslav.

After scoring 23 goals in 70 games over the course of three years, Bednar moved on to Lithuanian side FBK Kaunas, but his time there was brief and undistinguished and he signed for Hearts in 2005, first on loan, then permanently.

He was inconsistant while in Scotland, but West Brom boss Tony Mowbray realised his potential and signed him on loan in 2007.

After hitting fine form for the Baggies he was signed on a permanent deal in 2008.

Now a Czech international, he will be looking to cement his reputation as one of West Brom's best players in 2008/09.
