Paul Robinson

Defender Paul Robinson signed for Albion in October 2003 for a fee of £250,000.

Since then he made over 30 appearances for the Baggies, helping them secure a place in the Premiership.

Born in Watford, Robinson began his career as a trainee with his local club. He was liked by the fans because of his unending committment and effort. However in his last season with the Hornets, an accumulation of disciplinary points and consequent suspensions disrupted the team, and paved the way for his exit.

His 2004/05 season proved to be one of his most successful yet as he avoided such disciplinary problems and made 33 appearances. He also scored once, in a 1-1 draw with Midlands rivals Aston Villa.

He was strong in a West Brom defence which leaked too many goals all too often, and continued this fine form in the Championship once the Baggies were relegated back to the second tier.

In fact, so strong were his performances, that he was subject of a transfer bid from Wigan Athletic. But the move fell through and he stayed at the Hawthornes, helping them to promotion at the end of the 2007/08 campaign.

At the end of the season he was named in the PFA Championship Team of the Year.
