Leon Barnett

Defender Leon Barnett proved one of West Brom's most important players in their promotion season in 2007/08.

He began his career with Luton Town's youth team in 2002 and showed he was one to look out for.

However, he struggled to force his way into the senior squad at Kenilworth Road and in 2004 joined Aylesbury United on loan.

Once he returned in 2005, Barnett managed to force his way into the first 11 at Luton and a string of fine performances attracted the attention of West Brom, who he signed for in 2007.

Barnett played a crucial role in the Baggies' promotion season and even managed to come up from the back and score three goals.

He will be hoping to continue this fine form in 2008/09 as West Brom aim to become a regular fixture in the top flight.
