Craig Beattie

West Brom signed Craig Beattie from Celtic for a fee of £1.25m in 2007.

Although he started out as a schoolboy with Rangers, Craig Beattie rose through the ranks at Parkhead to make his official debut for Celtic in their Champions League clash with FBK Zalgiris Kaunas which the Hoops won 1-0, in August 2003.

He had made some appearances in the club's pre-season tour of Sweden in the summer of 2003, and impressed sufficiently to earn a three-year contract.

He went on to make 17 appearances during the 2003/04 campaign and scored his first senior goal for the club in the 2-0 win over Partick Thistle and his first league goal in the 1-1 draw with Motherwell.

However, in the 2004/05 camapign he struggled to continue his breakthrough. He made only 13 appearances, scoring 4 goals, including one in the 6-0 win against Dunfermline.

2005/06 was slightly better for Craig as he made 16 appearances for the first team, scoring a respectable 7 goals.

Injuries continued to hamper his progress, but he still managed to make his Scotland debut in the 1-1 draw with Italy. He then added to this tally when he played in their 2-1 victory over Norway.

2006/07 was another frustrating campaign for him, and he decided to move on in 2007, joining West Brom.

His fortunes at The Hawthorns have been mixed and he was sent out on loan to Preston in 2008, but he will be looking to prove his worth to Tony Mowbray in 2008/09.
