Barcelona are interested in signing Arsenal striker Robin van Persie in the summer, according to reports from Spain.

It is understood no official move has been made yet for a player Gunners boss Arsene Wenger says is in the ‘world class’ bracket.

Wenger said: “What is more amazing is that you look at Robin’s number of games played, and number of goals scored, then it becomes absolutely top, top class.

“That is what he is: a world class player. You have national class, international class and world class, and Robin is world class.
