Aston Villa are ready to let Emile Heskey walk away for nothing this summer.
The former England striker, 34, is one of the top earners after being brought in by Martin O’Neill.
His contract is up in July and both Villa and Heskey have already provisionally agreed to part company.
There are no fresh talks planned with a view to keeping the veteran, who cost £3.5million from Wigan two years ago. Heskey has only scored 10 goals and he has struggled with form and fitness despite quitting international duty.

Blackburn Rovers are asking for at least £3.5million for Argentine playmaker Mauro Formica – with Olympiakos’ attempts to get the 23-year-old on the cheap set for failure.
The Greek giants are understood to be ready to pay Rovers £2.5million for him in the summer, first taking him on loan until the end of the season.
Brazilian outfit Flamengo also yesterday joined the race for the in-demand Formica and are ready to attempt to sign him permanently now.
It is believed that Olympiakos want to pay Rovers £400,000 now as a loan fee for Formica.

Martin O’Neill has been offered the chance to sign… Balotelli.
The Wearsiders have taken Enoch Balotelli, brother of Manchester City star Mario, on trial.
The 19 year old arrived yesterday and will be put through his paces by the club’s football development staff after failing to clinch a contract at Stoke.
Enoch has been living with his brother in Cheshire and is keen to show his talent, but Sunderland are playing it cool and will see how he does rather than leap into a deal.
He was described by Stoke City staff as “raw.”
