Birchall open to offers

L.A Galaxy midfielder Chris Birchall is free to train with other clubs come Monday as he is yet to sign another contract with the MLS club.

It is believed LA Galaxy are still keen to negotiate a new deal with the Trinidad and Tobago international, who had spells at Port Vale, Coventry, and Brighton.

“I’ve loved my time at LA Galaxy.” Birchall told Sky Sports News HD. “LA Galaxy is a great club but I will see what offers come from back home in England before making any decision on my future.”



Arsenal and Spurs fight for centre backs

If the Daily Mail is to be believed the two North London clubs are to begin a tug of war over Chelsea’s unwanted Brazilian centre back Alex.

Arsenal have made their interest known in Alex and Wenger is said to be lining up a cut price move for Alex. Spurs could hijack the move with Redknapp keen to strengthen his defence.

Both clubs continue to monitor Gary Cahill who could leave the Reebok if the right bid was made.

Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen is also set to be part of a north London transfer tussle next month with Tottenham and Arsenal both keen on acquiring his services.



Big Sam wants Anelka at West Ham

Sam Allardyce has admitted his interest in signing want away Chelsea striker Nicholas Anelka.

The club hopping Frenchman seemed settled at Chelsea until falling out of favour since the arrival of Fernando Torres and the impressive Daniel Sturridge has kept him on the bench.

The Frenchman is thought to have agreed a move to Chinese outfit Shanghai Shenhua and will quit West London when the transfer window reopens in January.

Allardyce however, who worked with the Frenchman during his time with Bolton is keeping an eye on the striker-but knows his only chance of a capture is on a free transfer in the summer.



Stoke take on Balotelli’s brother

Stoke have taken Mario Balotelli’s younger brother Enoch Balotelli on trial at the Britannia.

The 19 year old whose brother has set the Premier League alight both on and off the pitch has been training with the Stoke academy for three weeks.

Balotelli played in the reserves’ goalless draw with Burton Albion on Wednesday and Stoke academy chief Dave Kevan admits they are weighing up a move for the youngster.

“He’s been with training with us for a while,” Kevan told The Sentinel.

“He’s a good boy but a bit raw. We’ll see how things go.”
