West Brom step up Fulop chase

West Bromwich Albion are ready to step up their interest in Sunderland goalkeeper Marton Fulop. Sportsmail revealed Albion’s interest last month and Fulop has since rejected an offer to return to Manchester City where he had a spell on loan last season.

Burnley win Sharp race

Burnley hope to be given the green light to tie up a £1million deal for Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp today. Sharp, 24, is also being tracked by Leeds United and Doncaster Rovers, where he had a successful loan stint last season. But the relegated Clarets have lodged the highest bid and, having given Sharp the weekend to think the move over, they hope to tie a deal up this week.

Bullard holds talks over Celtic loan deal

Jimmy Bullard will hold talks over a season-long loan move to Celtic. The Hull midfielder, 31, has been given permission to meet the Bhoys – with the relegated Premier League side desperate to get him off their wage bill. Hull chairman Adam Pearson said: “I have taken a call from Celtic asking about the possibility of taking Jimmy Bullard on a season-long loan. “We’ve told Celtic we’d be willing to let Jimmy go out on loan and it is now up to the player.”

Raul to swap Madrid for Manchester

After 16 illustrious seasons at Real Madrid, Raul has reportedly decided to leave the Bernabeu, and several clubs are queuing up to snap up the veteran striker. Manchester United Manager Alex Ferguson has already expressed interest in signing the 32-year-old, and according to Spanish reports, Blackburn Rovers , Schalke and Sampdoria, as well as several Major League Soccer sides, will battle the Red Devils for his signature. Real Madrid are due to allow Raul to leave on a free transfer, a year before his contract expires.
