O’Neill may move for Celtic star

Aston Villa boss Martin O’Neill may move for Celtic star Aiden McGeady if he can generate enough cash from player sales. Villa have put a clutch of squad men including Nigel Reo-Coker, Luke Young, Steve Sidwell and Curtis Davies up for sale to raise funds. O’Neill is after another talented attacking midfielder as James Milner is certain to leave Villa after the World Cup – with Man City his likely destination.

Moyes keen on City’s Ireland

Everton boss David Moyes is keen on Manchester City midfielder Stephen Ireland. The 23-year-old told City boss Roberto Mancini last season he wanted to move away from Eastlands. Ireland stopped short of handing in a transfer request but had become frustrated at the lack of first-team chances.

Redknapp admits interest in Cole

Harry Redknapp has admitted for the first time he is trying to sign Joe Cole. But the Spurs boss faces a battle with North London rivals Arsenal to secure the signature of the Chelsea and England midfielder. Redknapp said: “We’ve declared our interest in Joe to his agent but that is as far as it has gone. “We are told Joe doesn’t want to talk to anyone about any move until after the World Cup is over.”
