Real obsessed by Rooney

16th March 2010

Ex-Real president Ramon Calderon believes that his former club are obsessed with trying to prise England ace Wayne Rooney away from Manchester United. Real made a world record move for United’s Cristiano Ronaldo last summer and Calderon thinks that another major deal is in the pipeline at the Santiago Bernabeu. He told BBC Radio Five Live’s Sportsweek programme: “It seems that it’s an obsession for the president (Florentino Perez) to go for Rooney. Juventus eye audacious Fabregas swoop

16th March 2010

According to Turin based daily Tuttosport, Juventus are to make an audacious bid for Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas. The Italian giants have endured a difficult season, although temporary coach Alberto Zaccheroni has led somewhat of a resurgence and Juventus now sit fifth in Serie A with a chance of Champions League qualification for next season. The Turin club is keen to strengthen and build for next season and according to Tuttosport, Arsenal midfielder Fabregas is the main target. Last summer’s big money signing from Werder Bremen, Brazilian midfielder Diego , is widely considered to have been a disappointment. Tuttosport claims that Fabregas is viewed as a direct replacement. Apparently, the Juventus hierarchy has been impressed by Fabregas’ leadership in the Arsenal side. The Spanish playmaker is in irresistible form this season, having scored 17 goals and contributed 12 assists in 32 games for the Gunners.

Inter outcast linked with Premier League move

16th March 2010

Reports in the Italian press this morning have tipped starlet Mario Balotelli to leave Inter Milan at the end of the season after he was left out of the Nerazzurri squad to face Chelsea in the Champions League tonight. Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport claims either Balotelli or Jose Mourinho will be forced to leave the club as their relationship has declined dramatically in recent weeks. This news will be of interest to both Arsenal and Manchester City who have previously been linked with the Inter Milan number 45. The Nerazzurri hope to normalize relations between Mourinho and Balotelli for the rest of the season but may be forced to sell the young striker in the summer and would prefer him to move abroad rather than another Serie A club.
