It is believed Mancini is keen on Flamini as he can play at left-back, as well as in central midfield. Flamini played at full-back at Milan, where injuries forced him to switch from his favoured position, and also at Arsenal for the same reason.

Leeds claim Everton Beckford deal

20th January 2010

Leeds United striker Jermaine Beckford looks set to join Everton at the end of the season after manager Simon Grayson intimated that a pre-contract agreement is in place. Beckford had been a target for Newcastle United, with the Championship leaders reportedly having several bids for the striker turned down by Leeds and his contract ends in the summer meaning he can leave on a free at the end of the current campaign. The striker recently withdrew a request to leave Elland Road, but Grayson has suggested that a deal is in place between Beckford and the Toffees for the end of the season, although maintained he may yet choose to move elsewhere. “Pre-contract agreements aren’t binding, so both parties could pull out at any time,” said Grayson in the Sun. “If he bangs in another 20 goals, there might be bigger teams than Everton coming in for him.”

West Ham consider move for Everton misfit Jo

20th January 2010

West Ham United are considering launching an attempt to take out-of-favour striker Jo from Everton FC. The Brazilian, on a season-long loan from Manchester City, has fallen out of the first-team frame at Goodison after being fined and suspended as a consequence of going AWOL over Christmas. Jo has since returned to training at Finch Farm but has not been involved in a matchday squad since the 3-3 draw at Chelsea on December 12. And now West Ham, who were yesterday taken over by former Birmingham City owners David Sullivan and David Gold, are investigating the possibility of taking the 21-year-old to Upton Park for the remainder of the season.
