McLeish to make McGeady bid

Birmingham City will make Celtic an offer worth £14million to take Aiden McGeady into the Premier League. The 23-year-old Republic of Ireland attacking midfield player has been the No1 target for Alex McLeish, who has been given a transfer budget – estimated in some quarters to be £30million – by the Hong Kong entrepreneur, Carson Yeung, whose takeover of the St Andrew’s club was completed recently. McGeady has been Celtic’s best performer in a patchy season and is the only Parkhead player who could command, even notionally, a transfer fee in excess of £10million.



Burnley break the bank for Kilgallon

Burnley boss Brian Laws is offering a record £1.5million-a-year-contact to Matthew Kilgallon – and is willing to shatter the club’s pay ceiling to land the defender. Laws has been given permission to offer personal terms that would make the Sheffield United centre half his best-paid player – on DOUBLE what anyone else is on at Turf Moor. Kilgallon has been cleared to speak about the move by the Blades, who fear he is holding out to sign for Everton in a free transfer next summer.

Moyes gives Senderos Arsenal escape route

Everton are set to offer Philippe Senderos an escape route from his Arsenal hell. The Swiss defender desperately wants to leave the Emirates this January as he believes his chances of making his country’s World Cup squad are in jeopardy. Senderos has featured in just two matches this season – both in the League Cup – and Atletico Madrid are keen on luring him to Spain. But with the departure of Lucas Neill to Galatasaray, Everton manager David Moyes has earmarked Senderos, 24, as a potential replacement.

Allardyce to bring O’Neill back to Premier League
