FOOTBALL TRANSFER NEWS

Keane makes Celtic loan move

Celtic have signed Robbie Keane on loan from Tottenham until the end of the season. The 29-year-old has struggled to find regular first team football at White Hart Lane this season and follows Diomansy Kamara and Paul Slane in moving to Celtic Park on the final day of the transfer window. "The club is massive," Keane said. "I am a Celtic fan and did not have to ask much about it. I always wanted to play for Celtic and it works for all parties. I did not want to come here when I was 34 and struggling. I still feel I am in my prime and hope I can help the club." Source: BBC Sport

Bhoys snap up duo

Celtic have moved at the start of transfer deadline day for Fulham's Diomansy Kamara and Motherwell winger Paul Slane. 29-year-old Kamara joins on loan until the end of the season, while Slane, 18, has put pen to paper on a four-year deal. Slane is a product of the Motherwell youth academy, while Kamara has previously played under Celtic boss Tony Mowbray at West Brom.

Moses makes Wigan move

Victor Moses has joined Wigan Athletic from Crystal Palace. The Championship club entered administration last week and need to sell players to raise money. Moses, who had been linked with a number of other clubs, signs on a three-and-a-half-year deal for a fee of £2.5million. Latics manager Roberto Martinez said: "He is a special talent," said Roberto, "You can see that straightaway. He has been a big hit for Crystal Palace, and now he has the chance to grow and mature in the Premier League." Source: Wigan Athletic

Hammers nail McCarthy signing

West Ham United have signed Benni McCarthy from Blackurn Rovers for an undisclosed fee. The South African striker has played just 16 games for the Ewood Park side this season and moves on in a bid to earn himself a place in his country's World Cup squad. "I am very pleased and extremely happy," he told West Ham's official site. "This is a great club. The reason why I am happy that it has finally happened is because about five years ago I had a disappointing experience when I thought I was going to be a West Ham player until Porto pulled out and I had to go back. I would have loved this to be my first Premier League club, I went to Blackburn instead but West Ham kept on pursuing me and eventually I am here."

Fulham snap up Shorey and Okako

Fulham have signed Nicky Shorey and Roma striker Stefano Okaka on loan. Both deals will end in the summer, but the Craven Cottage side have the option to make Shorey's switch permanent and extend Okaka's move by a year. Roma boss Claudio Ranieri said: "Stefano is a great lad. He has been at Roma for five years and I believe the experience in England could mark a turning point in his career. He can do a lot more and the Premier League will give us back a much stronger player."

West Ham seal Mido loan

Middlesbrough striker Mido has joined West Ham United on loan for the rest of the season. The Egyptian striker spent the first few months of 2009/10 on loan with El Zamalek in his home country, but is now set for a return to the Premier League. He said: "I am here to play football and to prove a point, definitely. I am very happy to be here. I had to sacrifice some things but this is a great club and I am sure I will do well here, hopefully."

Middlesbrough enjoy busy day

Middlesbrough have had a busy transfer deadline day, signing Scott McDonald and Lee Miller but losing Adam Johnson to Manchester City. McDonald joins from Celtic, becoming the fifth former Bhoy to reunite with his former manager Gordon Strachan at the Riverside, while Miller has made the switch from Aberdeen. Johnson has signed for City for an undisclosed fee. He said: I've been there [at Boro] since I was about 12 and I'll be forever thankful to everyone there - they know who they are - who has helped me along the way and I hope they do well this season as well. Gordon Strachan was fantastic with me from day one. He understands I'm an ambitious person and this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity so I'd like to thank him as well."

So, Scott McDonald wanted to play for Celtic until the end of his career, then out of the blue, the last day of the transfer window looms and he's already packed his bags and told the Royal Mail to forward his correspondence onto Middlesbrough. I guess he's just trying to keep up the image of his descendents that Australian's are still criminally minded. Good luck to him and his crafty nature, I'm sure it'll blossom just as well in England.

Daylight robbery. McGeady is a very rare talent and if he was playing in the premiership would be valued at well over £20 million. If Mcleish can land him it will be a great piece of business and he'll be able to sell him on for a huge profit in 2 years time.

It's about time you updated the information you hold on the current Celtic squad, Caldwell's been sold to Wigan, Robsons away to Middlesborough, Hutchison & O'Dea are out on loan, Mark Browns gone, and Kennedy has retired due to an injury.

Gabi Agbonlahor, well if the villa let this one go then its another jewel they loose from their crown ,I had the privlidge to see and meet Gabi when he came to South Australia with the youth team to take part in the youth international club tournement about 3 years ago ive followed Villa since i was 5 years old and seen some great players come and go this one will go down in history so hang onto him Villa he was outstanding in South Australia and he just keeps getting better he will become an England regular and i just hope its the Villa he sees his time out at Villa Park , and 17 million is an insult to put this low tag on a young player and undermine the work that has been put into him by the Villa youth management is just another media hype to allow the likes of Arsenal,Man Utd,Liverpool and Chelsea, to benefit from other clubs hard work could you see them allowing him to go for peanuts i couldnt if bthe Villa sell him it should be 40 million pounds because thats what the so called BIG lol FOUR would want hang onto him Villa he is a gem that will become a very big jewel

Mark Hughes left Blackburn Rovers and then started to take players from the club, the same as Harry at Tottenham, there should be a clause put in by FIFA that says when managers leave a club that they cannot take players for at least two years from the club they have left.
Laurie

Pity Manchester United let so many players go, it will take a little longer to get the team back up to previous standard. That said the Manager knows full well what he is up to and when he will up his game as he has done in the past. And I am not a Manchester United supporter but that of another team who always give that team a good game.

I think that beckham will do good in the premier league as he is a talented player and i think he should be given a chance to play to his full potential. Because when he is playing for LA gaxaxy it is not a good enough league for him to show his qualities.

Scott Brown's attitude and temperament will not go down too well in London. He's a bit too hot headed to tolerate the kind of experience and treatment he'll have to put up with at a London Premiership club. Harry's better off looking elsewhere to fill the defensive gaps he obviously has at the moment, and Europe is the place to get a bargain these days with so many experienced defenders going quite cheap.

Warm congratulations to Paul Hart for taking a stern line, discipline has long been lacking in football with so called prima donnas. Maybe the players involved will think twice in the future, they get well paid for what they do at the fans expense and they should respect that. Even more they represent their club and when away from home or at home should respect other people and their property without bringing shame into the club.

Thank you Arsene. How many years have I had to wait as a fan for a manager to risk receivership on a matter of principle. It is only a matter of time before Tottenham's 30m a year spending pays off on the pitch and the impending acquisition of PETROV, one of the top 3 left sided palyers in the world could be key. If this is the move that takes Spurs past the Gunners, will City, Villa & Everton join them and force the Gunners even out of the Europa League places? The result, a cash shortage on the stadium loan repayments and a redempion call! What really concerns me is my team not appreciating that they have signed a lightweight CB who truly cannot defend until 3 months have passed and seven teams are out of sight. The principle? Arsene's infamous quote that he prefers building a team from youth than having the ready-made stars he would have had at Real Madrid. Hence the gaping hole between Almunia and Fabregas! As long as the likes of Hangeland remain a rumour, and the Melo's are passed over, then eventually the manager will be looking at PETROV and wondering if he should have found an experienced 30-year-old somewhere. I don't wish Spurs well, but I shall enjoy watching a few of their classy signings, particularly PETROV, earning whatever they achieve this season. But I hope to goodness their defence continues to outflank Arsenal's in defensive calamity. It is my only hope. My only question! What if Robinho gets injured. Who replaces him? If Man City really want to challenge, why sell the truly top class players that will give them strength in depth to last a gruelling Premiership season?

Rafa needs to let Xabi and Masherano go if they want to join a teams in a poor league where the football is no where as good as England then let thewm make that mistake i mean Barca play dull boring football and Liverpool hamered Real last year so its just a phase there going through as everyone is going there. Also i think with the money from both those players would add up to be around £80 million where we could buy silva and another striker either Villa or Aguero. Liverpool should win the league next year and if Rafa gets on with his job and stop going on about the players we have missed out on he can still bring some world class players into the squad. We should have signed Barry as him and Gerrard play well together and with the others going would have been nice for how cheap he went for. If Liverpool dont wint the league this year get rid of Rafa and get someone else in who is not afraid to take chances on players.

aron gunnarsson is a great player i think he would do well for the celtic and we would need a good strong team this season to beat are arivals rangers i think celtic should consider puting maloney and a few younger players on more to get them use to the bigger teams i think the team would do very well if every one in the squad would get a chace to prove them selfs and the new manager got us of to great start when they won 3 0 on july the 12th i watch it on the internet and they play very well that the best i have seen them playing in a long time hopefuly they keep it up and will win the leauge and go far in the champions leauge

Carlos Tevez would be better off going south and away from Manchester, Manchester City may think that they are the Bees Knees but what Hughes does not realise is he failed last year and others will not allow him to get into the Top Four. He may have been a good player but he ratted on Blackburn Rovers who took him and made him a Manager. That is the kind of Manager he is, rather gives the impression of being a two faced character.

As an Arsenal fan of over 45 years would someone please.please ,please buy our Mr Offside-Adebayor.If he has scored only a small percentage of the moves were he was caught offside, not only would the Gooners have won the Premiership and Champins League, but Adebayor would have won the Golden Boot!Come on Arsene-BUy us a BIg hard centre half(like Tony Adams)and another Arshavin and we'll be hard to catch.A Gooner for ever!

As far as I am concerened, Rangers should provide the fans with some absolute quality next season in terms of signings. Champions League football is guaranteed, so it's not like we have to hold out for the funds coming in. Come on The Gers! We were simply the best in supporting you through and through the hard times over the last few seasons. Give Mendes, Thomson, Davis, Bougherra, Boyd and the rest of the double winning lads something special to work alongside. A true blue, Rangers until I die, Chris!

If the spine of our team remains intact after the summer transfer furore I am highly confident of securing the premier league title next season. By spine I mean Gerard (who obviously along with Torres is going nowhere) Carragher, Torres, Alonso and Reina. Even if Ferguson offered Rafa the full £80 million from the sale of Ronaldo for Torres i'm quite sure you could hear Rafa and Torres' laughter from Melwood to South Africa where i see "El Nino" is putting in another below par performance with a hat- trick after 17 minutes! Ha !

we have at least £10m from the Champions League - still sell players but only fringe ones.Even the wages we would save by getting rid of those players would allow the manager to bring in a couple of players of quality. And that would be enough for me cause I think that he should be playing players like Danny Wilson(cause Davie Weir hasn't got the legs for another season -especially in Europe where his lack of pace would get hopelessly exposed),John Fleck,Dean Furman,Andrew Little a lot more next season. In fact my team would be : Alan McGregor Steven Whittiker Madjid Bougherra Danny Wilson Steven Smith Kevin Thomson Steven Davies Pedro Mendes Andrius Velicka / Stevie Naismith Kris Boyd Kenny Miller I think that with those players you can play with only a three man midfield, as both fullbacks will bomb forward all day long, and if they happened to get caught on the counter attack while too far forward you've got Thomson there to protect the 2 centre halfs. And of course in certain games you could play John Fleck in what is more of his natural position just behind a front two of Boyd & Miller / Velicka.you got the snipers saying that he wasn't the player he had been made out to be. But of course us Gers supporters know that is because he was at left midfield. Yet we're the same ones who know what a revelation he would be in the position he has played in since he signed as a 12 year old. And by the way Scott, we all knew that you were in fact a Septic fan because we all know at least one of the "unwashed ones" that are like you to a tee with your snidey wee comments that only you find funny. Ha Ha - 4 in a row no more!!!!! How does it feel ? Huv you came out of hiding yet ?

I cant beleive that Rangers have nursed Steven Smith thro a horific injury for the best part of 2 years only to try and get rid of one of the best prospects in Scottish football a product of the youth programme. where is the point in having a youth programme to bolster other team Chris Burke a shining example to name the most recent departure ???

Would expect around 6.5 - 7 million to part with Bougherra.Hopefully the board will resist because most fans rate him higher than Carlos Cuellar who went for 8.5million but we are in a habit of selling centre halves at the moment so i'm not too hopeful
Keni

If Smith does go to Ipswich Town or any other club then I hope it's only on a loan deal because when we cash in on Bougherra the left back position may come up for grabs.
