Blackburn defender Zurab Khizanishvili is ready to sign for Gareth Southgate's promotion-seeking Middlesbrough on loan when the Football League window re-opens today. The Georgian international can leave Ewood Park and is available after failing to find a new home before the deadline closed last week. Boro have opened talks to take on Khizanishvili if they pay his bumper wages, and Southgate is set to do business after pulling back from a move for Preston's Republic of Ireland defender Sean St.Ledger.

Hull boss Phil Brown is ready to sign Manchester City 'cult hero' Glauber Berti. The Brazilian defender eventually made an appearance as a sub at City in the final game of last season after a year at the club. Glauber, capped once by Brazil, was dubbed the 'Invisible Man' because he was overlooked by Mark Hughes after signing on a free from German side Nuremburg. Now he could sign a one-year contract at the KC Stadium as he is a free agent.
