Spurs Line Up Ex-Gunner

Tottenham have opened talks on the controversial signing of former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira. City Chase Another Striker

Manchester City are on the brink of completing a stunning £25million swoop for Emmanuel Adebayor. Arsenal's Togo striker will be offered a five-year deal at Eastlands worth around £130,000 per week. That all adds up to a staggering £60m investment. City boss Mark Hughes moved quickly after pulling out of the race for Barcelona's Samuel Eto'o. City's opening offer for Adebayor fell around £5m short but they are willing to agree a compromise to get the hitman, 25.

Fulham Offer For Greening

Fulham have offered £2.5million plus Hameur Bouazza in their bid to land West Brom midfield ace Jonathan Greening. Cottagers boss Roy Hodgson has made a third bid for Greening, 30, who is ready to move. Hodgson has already seen £1.8m and £2.2m offers rejected but has now upped the cash - and thrown in Algerian striker Bouazza, 24, as part of the deal.

Good Beye Toon Says Habib

Fans' favourite Habib Beye last night laid bare the frustrations at Newcastle and insisted: "I have to leave for the sake of my career - I've been given no choice." The Senegal defender has become unsettled by the position the Toon are in after been relegated. The club have no new owners, no manager and - right now - no hope. Beye, 31, who has interested Blackburn among others, was fully prepared to stay at St James' Park to lead the fightback from the Championship.
