Owen Set For Shock United Move

Michael Owen is on the brink of a sensational move to Manchester United after accepting the terms of a pay-as-you-play one-year deal with the champions. Talks were understood to be continuing last night but only if Owen passes a stringent medical will he become a member of Sir Alex Ferguson's squad. Ferguson believes the 29-year-old is a gamble worth taking if he can stay injury-free and return to the kind of goalscoring form that made him European Footballer of the Year in 2001.

Fab The Man To Replace Tev

Manchester United are poised to make a £16million swoop for Brazilian striker Luis Fabiano after missing out on Karim Benzema. Benzema’s £32m move to Real Madrid meant United chief Sir Alex Ferguson had to rethink his targets to replace outgoing Carlos Tevez. And Sevilla hitman Fabiano, top scorer with five goals in Brazil’s Confederations Cup triumph last month, is the new name in the frame - although United will have to see off AC Milan to land him.

Campbell To Join Toon Army

Portsmouth defender Sol Campbell is ready to jump out of the frying pan and into the fire by considering a move to crisis-torn Newcastle. Campbell is ready to walk out on Pompey because of the takeover chaos at the South Coast club. But that has not stopped him being tempted to move to a club in an even worse situation.

Pulis To End Benjani Hell

Tony Pulis is ready to save Benjani from his Manchester City hell with a £5m raid. Stoke boss Pulis will target Eastlands outcast Benjani for a switch to the Britannia Stadium this summer to power up his Potters. Zimbabwe striker Benjani is certain to be sacrificed by City boss Mark Hughes just 18 months after his £6m arrival from Portsmouth.

Fulham And Milan Battle It Out For Crouch

Fulham are preparing a £10million offer for Portsmouth striker Peter Crouch - with AC Milan also weighing up a bid. Manager Roy Hodgson has identified the England centre forward as the man to help his side make the next step up after qualifying for the Europa League. Milan have Crouch, 28, in their sights if they fail to land their first-choice, Sevilla's Luis Fabiano. Crouch will jump at the chance of a move to Italy, particularly after Milan indicated that they would pay much more than his current £70,000 a week.
