Teemu Tainio

Auxerre's Finnish international Teemu Tainio joined Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2005 after he signed a pre-contract agreement with the north London club.

Tottenham sporting director Frank Arnesen said: "We are delighted we have been able to secure Teemu now. Many other top clubs were keen on him. He is a versatile midfielder who can play anywhere across the middle."

He impressed during his first season at White Hart Lane, playing 25 times and scoring once. This fine form continued into 2006/07 as he scored twice in 29 starts, but he was able to make less of an impact in 2007/08 and left the club in July 2008 to join Sunderland.
