In January 2007 Tottenham Hotspur completed the signing of Portugal international defender Ricardo Rocha from Benfica.
Rocha put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half year deal and was signed to fill the void left by the departure of Calum Davenport to West Ham.
Rocha was an integral part of the Benfica side that reached the last eight of the Champions League last season.
The versatile defender - who can play anywhere across the backline - had also made five Champions League appearances during the 2006/07 campaign.
"Ricardo is an accomplished defender who gives us further options in defence as he can play both in the centre and on the right," Tottenham Hotspur sporting director Damien Comolli told the club's official website.
"He brings considerable experience to Tottenham having played at the highest level in European competition and is also a current Portugal international.
"Ricardo has shown a great desire to come to White Hart Lane and will no doubt prove to be a valuable addition to the squad at this important time."
His first half-season at White Hart Lane was a successful one as he made a handful of impressive performances. He will be aiming to continue his good work in 07/08.
