Tottenham Hotspur completed the signing of Slavia Prague goalkeeper Radek Cerny on an 18-month contract in January 2005.

Spurs had been on the lookout for a new keeper following Kasey Keller's move to Borussia Monchengladbach and turned to the 30-year-old Czech Republic international to provide cover if Paul Robinson were to be injured.

Sporting director Frank Arnesen told the club's official website: "We have three very good young keepers - Marton Fulop, Robert Burch and Nicky Eyre - who are for the future.

"We need one for in between with Kasey Keller gone, and we want to send the young keepers out for a loan spell at a higher level than reserve football.

"We were looking for a very good keeper, who has the ambition to play, but also knows Paul Robinson is in front of him."

He played only three times in 04/05 and not at all in 05/06 as Paul Robinson became Martin Jol's number 1 at White Hart Lane.

However, he did make five starts in 06/07 and continues to provide reliable back-up for Robinson.
