After a summer of rumours, Tottenham finally completed the signing of unsettled Newcastle United midfielder Jermaine Jenas on transfer deadline day in August 2005.
The 22-year-old moved to White Hart Lane for a transfer fee of between £8million and £9million.
The England international had been expected to leave St James' Park after revealing in the summer that he was tired of living in "a goldfish bowl" on Tyneside.
He said of the move: "This is a great move for me. I am aiming to win things and with the players already at the club I am sure I can realise this ambition."
He was linked with a move to Arsenal in July as a replacement for Patrick Vieira when the Frenchman sealed his move to Juventus.
Those rumours intensified when Newcastle bought Scott Parker and Emre, and Jenas was reported to be on the verge of handing in a St James' Park transfer request.
Newcastle boss Graeme Souness attempted to kill off the rumours by placing a £20million price tag on the player, who cost them £5million when he moved from Nottingham Forest in February 2002.
After showing tremendous promise during the early stages of his career on Tyneside, Jenas struggled for form during much of the 2004-05 campaign, leading to his eventual decision to leave.
His first season at Spurs was a strong one as he scored seven times in thirty six games. On the international front, he made it into Sven Goran Eriksson's World Cup squad but did not play.
He continued his fine form in the 2006/07 season with eight goals in 34 games. He is now a vital part of Martin Jol's team.
